Let’s get something out of the way first: Cleopatras Coins is not a pretty game. It is not advanced, it is certainly not polished and it looks about as visually advanced as you would expect from a lower end slot from 2006. Using simple outlines in an Ancient Egyptian style, as well as some coloured images of prominent figures, it probably looked quite impressive when it was created, but times have changed.
If we ignore the aesthetics of the base game, and the simplicity of the opening cutscene, which is actually a touch more impressive, Cleopatras Coins doesn’t have much else going for it. The highest paying symbols only give you 500x and 400x, although the wild will return 5,000x if you land five of them. There are also many symbols that pay you less than 10 times your line bet, and because this is a 15 payline game it means that many wins will return barely enough cash to cover your bet. That can be very frustrating, especially when big wins are few and far between, which is the case with Cleopatras Coins.
Bonus Feature
Cleopatras Coins redeems itself slightly with the bonus rounds, which include an offer of as many as 100 free spins if you land 5 of the scatter symbols, and 10 or 20 if you land 3 or 4 respectively. All free spins also come with a 3x multiplier attached, which serves to increase your winnings no end if you land 100 spins.
There is also a “choose-me” bonus round, whereby you select from a number of vases to unlock some prize money. The free spins will actually return bigger wins than the main bonus round, especially if you’re lucky enough to land 4 or 5 of the scatter symbols, but the bonus round can also be profitable on occasion.
